Monitoring Printers
NetCrunch delivers sophisticated printer monitoring capabilities by utilizing SNMP protocols, facilitating detailed tracking and management of printer performance.
Printer Sensor
The Printer Sensor in NetCrunch goes beyond simple supply-level monitoring. It tracks various printer statuses and can alert you to alarms and performance issues, ensuring a comprehensive oversight of printer health. It's most effective with printers that support Printer MIB v2, a standard that offers in-depth insights into printer status and performance metrics.
Alerts
NetCrunch's Printer Sensor offers detailed and specific monitoring through several alert types:
- Alert on Performance Counter Metric: Notifies you if specific printer performance metrics exceed predetermined thresholds.
- Alert on a Status Object: Keeps you informed about changes in key printer statuses, such as operational readiness or maintenance requirements.
- Printer Alert: General alerts for a range of detected printer issues, from paper jams to connectivity problems.
- Authentication Error: Informs you of any authentication issues, ensuring secure and authorized printer access.
- Request Timeout: Alerts you if the printer fails to respond within a set time frame, indicating potential communication or hardware issues.
Counters
The Printer Sensor also tracks the following metrics:
- Printed Page Count: This feature tracks the number of pages the printer prints.
You can set a
Limit Thresholdto receive an alert when the number of pages printed exceeds the threshold value within a specified period (e.g., day, week, etc.). - Colorant Containers\% Fill Level: The percentage of ink or toner remaining in each colorant container.
- Supplies\% Remaining: The overall percentage of remaining printer supplies, like ink or toner.
- Receptacles\% Remaining: The remaining capacity percentage in waste receptacles, like toner collection units.
