Azure Cosmos DB Sensor

This sensor monitors Azure Cosmos Database Service using Azure Monitor metrics.

Azure CosmosDB Sensor monitors service availability and alerts you when availability drops. The sensor collects service usage metrics such as the number of requests, RU consumed for requests, and more. You can set the RU consumption percentage alert based on your requirement.

Requirements

This sensor requires credentials for Azure subscription (Application (Client) ID, Tenant ID, and Client Secret Value).

Options

The sensor monitor only one, specified Cosmos DB Account.

Alerts

  • Average Service Availability < 100%

Performance Metrics

The sensor collects metrics about service usage and performance, eg:

  • Performance\% Avg. Service Availability
  • Performance\Avg. Replication Latency [ms]
  • Performance\Avg. Server Side Latency [ms]
  • Requests\Request Count
  • RU\% Normalized RU Consumption

You can also detect configuration changes by defining an alerts on a change of configuration metrics eg:

  • Configuration\Provisioned Throughput
  • Configuration\Autoscale Maximum Throughput
  • Table\Throughput Updated

Depending on the account data model (Cassandra, Azure Table, etc.) list of available sensor metrics may differ.

Reports (Data Collectors)

By default, the sensor adds a report containing Average Server Side Latency [ms], % Service Availability, Request Count, % Normalized RU Consumption, and Request Charges charts. These metrics will be collected and available as a report or through Performance Trend Viewer
