DNS Query Sensor

Node SettingMonitoringAdd Monitoring SensorDNS Query DNS service is the most vital part of every infrastructure. NetCrunch allows checking for DNS query results and detects unwanted changes.

DNS sensor allows you to check if the DNS responses are valid. This helps identify problems in DNS or to check whether records have been altered.

This sensor allows you to send a query for a name or an address to a given DNS server (you should add it to the DNS server node). You can enter a name to check (a domain name), and you can define alerts to check if DNS records match expected results. Predefined sensor alerts include

  • Query execution error
  • Request timeout
  • No DNS records in response.

Also, you can set an alert on Response time and Check time. You can query IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

You can match a value of the following record types:

  • Location Record (LOC)
  • Mail Exchange Record (MX)
  • Name Server Record (NS)
  • Resolve Canonical Name (CNAME)
  • Resolve IPv4 Address (A)
  • Resolve IPv6 Address (AAAA)
  • Resolve Name (PTR)
  • Service Locator (SRV)
  • Start of Authority (SOA)
  • Text Record (TXT)

Each record can be tested for conformance with a given pattern.

System Uptime Sensor

Node SettingMonitoringAdd Monitoring Sensor System Uptime Sensor supports WMI, SSH/Bash and SNMP.

The sensor monitors device uptime measured in seconds.

Predefined sensor alerts:

  • Authentication error
  • Connection Error
  • Device has been restarted

Also, you can set an alert on Response Time and Check Time.

RADIUS Sensor

The sensor checks the user authentication process and validates the response from the RADIUS server. If you need checking service responsiveness only, then you can use Network Services and RADIUS service from the list. See Network Services Monitoring.

Predefined sensor alerts:

  • Request error
  • Request timeout

Sensor measures:

  • RADIUS.Sensor/Check Time
  • RADIUS.Response/Time

The sensor allows setting alert on response conformance equals or doesn't equal given value.

ssl-certificate

SSL Certificate Sensor

The sensor can check any SSL/TLS connection (SSH and any other protocol working on TLS). It checks the SSL certificate expiration date and the certificate properties. The sensor allows the checking of all certificate fields.

Predefined sensor alerts:

  • Connection Error
  • Certificate Expired
  • Certificate is about to expire
  • Certificate changed
  • Certificate has been revoked
  • Weak public key
  • Certificate authority invalid

The sensor shows warning status if the certificate is not authorized or the public key is too short. You can set an alert on the certificate field conformance and status object change for the certificate or public key.

Besides, you can set an alert on such metrics as Response Time, Check Time and a number of Days Until Certificate Expires.

ssh-remote-ping

SSH Remote Ping

The sensor checks connectivity from a remote system by running Ping remotely by the SSH server.

It allows setting threshold on the following counters:

  • % Availability
  • Response Time
  • Check Time

Predefined sensor alerts:

  • Connection Error
  • Authentication Error
  • Ping timeout

You can also add an alert when the Ping Response object status changed.
